Review: Princesa Kilala - Rika Tanaka & Nao Kodaka

Today I finished this cute series after 5 volumes. Before I start, I have to say that it is a childish series, so, you can’t condemn it for being predictable or obvious :)

Well, as I commented on my Instagram, Kilala is a regular girl whose parents travel a lot. She feels very lonely and finds comfort in the Disney Princesses’ world. Her friends think that she’s a little weird, but Kilala doesn’t care, as all she wants is to have a good time in everything she does. One fine day, she finds a passed out boy in the street named Rei, a lost prince (which, in Brazilian Portuguese, is very funny, as this boy will became a king someday and the world “king” equals “rei” in this language, haha!).

Anyway, Rei needs to save his kingdom, Paradiso, from a rebellion and Kilala starts to help, on her own clumsy way. They end up visiting 6 princesses worlds: Snow White’s, Cinderella’s, Ariel’s, Belle’s, Aurora’s and Jasmine’s. Each kingdom gives Kilala a different stone for the crowd of Rei’s kingdom, but an awful betrayal gets into their way and Kilala, in the end, wasn’t just some random girl.

Kilala e Rei :)

I thought it was pretty creative for a kid’s manga. Of course we have some basic shoujo elements like the couple that always fight, the oh-so-prettier-than-you-girl to make an amorous triangle with Kilala and Rei, clichés and all, but it’s cute enough as a pass time and Nao wins extra points. Kilala and Rei are beautiful characters and the Disney characters are perfect! Even finding the end a little tiring, I liked it and, overall, I would give 3.5 stars to the whole series.

That’s it! Thanks for reading :D Do you like Disney inspired mangas?

Review: Bobby Singer’s Guide to Hunting, from David Reed (Supernatural)

Hello! Today I’ll review a book I already finished last Thursday: Bobby Singer’s Guide to Hunting, from Supernatural TV Show, written by David Reed :) I’m sorry I’m late with the post and promise to try to be better starting on July!

Let’s go to the book now. I have to be honest: I stopped watching Supernatural at season 5 because life is not easy, so, I don’t have the slightest idea which season does the book complements :( The good news is, I didn’t have to, because the book explains later everything that happened so far (or as much as I needed to fully understand it all, haha!).

Bobby starts writing everything that he knows – or remembers – about monsters and how to kill them because he feels he’s losing his memory and is afraid to lose all his knowledge. Until the very end, we aren’t sure what is messing with his head or if he’s paranoid, so this suspense side was great :) It was a differential from John Winchester’s Journal and The Supernatural Book of Monsters, Spirits, Demons, and Ghouls, that were manuals. Bobby tells us his story, how it all started for him, his life with Rufus, John, and Dean and Sam later, it was amazing <3

I like to keep a notebook with my favorite quotes from all times and, thanks to Bobby, I have a handful of them there now, as he was so funny in general lines. But it helps when you’re a fan of the show, in this case. I could hear Jim Beaver (Bobby) reading the words aloud for me, for example, haha!

That’s it! I’m sorry for the short review, but I don’t really have much to say without huge spoilers >.< Do you like Supernatural too?

To-read of the week: Elixir, from Hilary Duff

Hello, people! Omg, it’s already Sunday again, so, new to-read of the week day! This time, I chose Elixir, from goodness Hilary Duff, published in 2010 by Simon & Schuster Books :)

Goodreads description:

Clea Raymond has felt the glare of the spotlight her entire life. The daughter of a renowned surgeon and a prominent Washington DC politician, she has grown to be a talented photojournalist who takes refuge in a career that allows her to travel to the most exotic parts of the world. But after Clea’s father disappears while on a humanitarian mission, Clea’s photos begin to feature eerie, shadowy images of a strange and beautiful man—a man she has never seen before.
When fate brings Clea and this man together, she is stunned by the immediate and powerful connection she feels with him. As they grow closer, they are drawn deep into the mystery behind her father’s disappearance, and they discover the centuries old truth behind their intense bond. Torn by a dangerous love triangle and haunted by a powerful secret that holds their fates, together they race against time to unravel their pasts in order to save their lives—and their futures.

Why I think it’s cool: it is Hilary freaking Duff. From the series saw the cover and bought it. I’m a huge fan since Lizzie McGuire and I honestly believe that she has got the potential to do whatever she puts her mind to, even if it is this art of writing a book. I have mine for almost three or four years now, but I always end up passing something before it… And this kind of problem was that led me to do my own Book Jar (except mine is a book box, because I didn’t have one single cute jar at home, lol). Anyway, the story looks interesting too, so, I’ll give it a chance :)

That’s it, guys! Thanks for reading and I’m sorry that this post was so partial, but we have to admit when we admire someone, right? xD Have you ever read Hilary’s work or are planning to??
