To-read of the week: The Claiming of Sleeping Beauty, from Anne Rice

Once again, it’s Sunday! New to-read of the week day! Today the chosen one is a book I’ve bought yesterday: The Claiming of Sleeping Beauty, first book in the Sleeping Beauty series, from Anne Rice, under the pseudonym of A. N. Roquelaure. It was first published back in 1983, but I’m not sure which publisher was the first :/

Goodreads’ description:

From bestselling author Anne Rice, writing as A.N. Roquelaure. In the traditional folktale of 'Sleeping Beauty,' the spell cast upon the lovely young princess and everyone in her castle can only be broken by the kiss of a Prince. It is an ancient story, one that originally emerged from and still deeply disturbs the mind's unconscious. Now Anne Rice's retelling of the Beauty story probes the unspoken implications of this lush, suggestive tale by exploring its undeniable connection to sexual desire. Here the Prince reawakens Beauty, not with a kiss, but with sexual initiation. His reward for ending the hundred years of enchantment is Beauty's complete and total enslavement to him as Anne Rice explores the world of erotic yearning and fantasy in a classic that becomes, with her skillful pen, a compelling experience.

Why I think it’s cool: like I mentioned once, I love books that come from fairy tales. Sleeping Beauty is my second favorite princess and I love Anne Rice since I’ve read Interview With The Vampire and The Vampire Lestat, so I think it’s going to be an explosive combination! Besides, as you can see in my Brazilian edition, the cover is amazing and romantic <3

That’s it! Thanks for reading :D Did you like this week suggestion?
